About Our Client
Our client is the world’s leading manufacturer of inhaler test equipment and a trusted provider of test instrumentation for the pharmaceutical industry.
The Challenge
The client’s existing software solution enabled customers to input and analyse testing data from inhaler testing devices and third-party HPLC testing. While successful and profitable, the software was nearing the end of its life cycle, and newer options on the market offered better user experiences.
The existing software faced several limitations:
• It was a self-contained Windows application that could only be installed via CD, restricting hardware compatibility.
• Licensing was managed through a WiBu USB dongle, creating network security issues and limiting hardware options.
• The maximum number of test runs was fixed.
• The user interface was outdated, and the data input flow was inefficient.
• There was no audit functionality for CFR 21 – PART 11 compliance.
The Solution
We began by conducting a comprehensive discovery workshop with the Product Owners. This workshop revealed not only the need to address the current limitations but also opportunities for additional enhancements.
Evolve proposed a bespoke solution incorporating the following improvements:
• Licensing via an SDK model or similar approach.
• Integration with or import functionality for HPLC software.
• Storage of equipment information, including measurement data and certificates, within the application.
• Customisable report outputs and data extracts.
The Result
The project was completed in 5 months, from requirements gathering to final production release. The new software, built on a Smart Client architecture, offers several key benefits:
• Customers can choose to host their inhaler test data either locally on individual devices or on a central database within their IT infrastructure.
• The application supports ‘Over The Air’ updates, allowing customers to apply updates at their discretion.
• Evolve continues to enhance the client’s solution, providing ongoing support and further improvements.
